May the Funds be With You

The fourth of May has gained a significance for geeks across the globe. Around 2011, a new holiday was popularized surrounding the popular movie franchise “Star Wars.”

The title of this day is a play on words for one of the main factors of the franchise, “the Force,” with its catchphrase “May the Force be with you.” Which led to the birth of “May the fourth be with you.” Get it? May the 4th?

May the Fourth NFTs

Just in time for this oh-so-nerdy holiday, acclaimed artist Rob Prior announced that he will be creating a collection of NFTs that includes Star Wars inspired art. Along with this he will be releasing NFTs inspired by the Marvel Universe and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Prior has made artwork for many of these franchises before and it will be fascinating to see what he does with NFTs.

These pieces will be auctioned through Mogul Productions, which has used the word “DeFiFi” or “decentralized film financing” to describe itself. It makes sense that Prior would team up with this group for his specific collection of artwork. His film-focused subject for these pieces pairs well with Mogul Productions’ message, and both parties seem excited to work with each other.

More than anything, this event is a prime example of NFTs linking together multiple different communities and changing how creatives, entrepreneurs, and digital currency enthusiasts alike interact with one another. Here we see the film, art, and digital currency community all coming together for one exciting and new project. A lovely precedent is being set for the future of digital currency and how it may develop.

NFTs and Movies

Even the notion of NFTs being used in the film industry raises lots of questions about copyright laws and other rights regarding distribution and ownership of media. NFTs could completely change the way we treat and manage these laws. Not to mention that NFTs have already changed the art world and how artists are distributing their work.

These are all big questions with complex answers but for now, people like Prior are having a good time creating Star Wars related art projects.

Prior goes so far as to say, “It’s incredible that we can now make art immortal by giving it a permanent digital life on the blockchain. I couldn’t be more enthusiastic about working with the Mogul team to share my creations with the members of the entertainment community.”

This auction will be taking place in late spring, and Priors creative mind is ready to make a show out of it. By that I mean, whoever is the highest bidder for his first piece will get to watch him burn the original artwork so that they know that they have the only version of the art as a NFT.
